July Intention: Explore Focus
We know keeping goals top of mind helps us achieve them, but what does that look like in practice?
This month, we will be exploring the concept of focus from setting daily intentions and keeping them top of mind to being honest about where we focus our time.
Join our July Challenge by setting an intention or focus for each day and then check in to see how it's helping. Experiment with various focusing techniques and explore if some types of intentions are easier than others.
Tips for remembering to check in on intentions
Put your intention on a sticky note in a visible location (kitchen, bathroom, front door, etc.)
Replace your phone background with your intention or set an alarm with your intention as the label (reminder text)
Work with an accountability partner to check in daily
Tips for focusing
Set a timer for 20-25 minutes and see how much you can do.
Imagine the worst way to do whatever you are trying to do. Does imagining doing it poorly or incorrectly help you get started?
Try a micro-experiment or use the AIM Smart framework to break what you need to do into one small step
Make it fun (see the June blog for ideas)
Use the tracking sheet below to record your intention or focus and how it went each day.
Reflection on June’s Make it Fun Intention
I enjoyed making something fun every day last month! I thought I was going to stretch myself to make something I didn’t want to do fun but most days I focused on doing something fun for myself. My fun activities included baking, doing a puzzle, resting while watching Kdramas, swimming, drawing, connecting with friends and colleagues, and sleeping without the boot (16-week xrays showed 80% bone growth!). I found ways to entertain myself while waiting in line to check out at a store and a few times to get things done I didn’t want to do.
How did June go for you? Did you come up with ways to make things fun?
What intentions do you have for July?
